KM Cache Issue

Dear Experts,

We had a requirement to post an update in EP via modifying a file in KM content. We could able to achieve that. We had created a KM content iView and assigned that iView to new Portal Role. Subsequently we assigned new Portal Role to few users.

Now responsible users are updating the file but the problem is: the changes doesn't reflect instantly to the portal. It takes lot of time to reflect.

We tried clearing Navigation cache and browser cache but still not working properly. Could you please throw some idea how it will be reflected instantly.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks

UWL for mobile iview template Portal 7.3 sp12

Hi,

I am on Portal 7.3 sp12.

1) I am trying to create "UWL iview for Mobile"  for my  solution  from iview Template.  The problem is there is no template visible if I ran the Wizzard to create it.

Does anyone knows technical object ID for this iView template so I can search in PCD and make a copy.   ? Wher do I ge template? Can I mport it ?

2) Do I really need Workplaces framework to support this UWL for mobile iview?  Can I ran this iView separatly?

My plan is to use Mobile Desktop / Framework page and the portal alias  ......irj/portal/mobile   to present it .

3) Unfortunately I am on 7.3 sp12  and there is no Fiori Framework page/ Fiori Desktop available for me on this level.  Otherwise I would create Fiori iView for Fiori wave2

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Denis

WPC search and TREX on EP 7.31

$

Dear all,

I have tryed following:

Configuring the Search for Web Pages - Web Page Composer - SAP Library

to configure TREX search for WPC content on EP 7.31 SP6. I was able to follow almost all mentioned steps as given:

1.)Setting TREX URL in NWA: TREX is configured already and is running. Created HTTP System like suggested with public portal url (System AdministrationNext navigation stepSystem ConfigurationNext navigation stepKnowledge ManagementNext navigation stepContent ManagementEnd of the navigation pathGlobal ServicesNext navigation stepSystem Landscape DefinitionsNext navigation stepSystemsNext navigation stepHTTP System)

2.)Defining host and alternate host for URL generator service: already configured, public resp internal portal url

3.)Configuring Default Proxy System ( System AdministrationNext navigation stepSystem ConfigurationNext navigation stepKnowledge ManagementNext navigation stepContent ManagementStart of the navigation pathGlobal ServicesNext navigation stepSystem Landscape DefinitionsNext navigation stepSystemsNext navigation stepDefault Proxy System ): I didnt entered anything on proxy URL, since I dont use one. But I entered direct hosts like localhost, https://weburl.com, http://internal.com like suggested

4.)Configured a web site with given values ( System AdministrationNext navigation stepSystem ConfigurationNext navigation stepKnowledge ManagementNext navigation stepContent Management Start of the navigation pathRepository ManagersNext navigation stepWeb SitesNext navigation stepWeb Site ). Im sadly not familiar with the syntax of Login User Agent setting, looks a bit strange, just copy-pasted it.

5.)Created a web repository with given values ( System AdministrationNext navigation stepSystem ConfigurationNext navigation stepKnowledge ManagementNext navigation stepContent ManagementStart of the navigation pathRepository ManagersNext navigation stepWeb Repository). Connected the mentioned filter, com.sap.nw.kmc.indexing.filter.IndexPropertiesFilter and created an index like descripted with property queryExtender.

6.)Configured Service Profile, Delta Indexeing, Search UI as suggested, restarted all services.

7.)Restarted the portal - found some hot deployment exceptions in the log.

8.)Created a WPC area, page, article. Published all, connected to a custom role and gave this one to my user. Works well

9.)Reindexed appropriate TREX index without any result: the number of returned documents is 0. Created a text file in /StageArea, reindexed again, still nothing. Also no errors on TREX Monitor and nothing in the NWA log, it seems the the crawler is failing on finding documents. If Im looking closer to the queue of the WPC index I cant see any documents at all, means they are not failing on preprocessing, so all counters are zero.

Also suspicious, KM navigating to portal_indexing_wr -> portal_indexing_ws leads to a "Target not available" error. No develope trace error regarding this visible. Not sure what can be expected there, the SAP Help is not mentioning any troubleshooting.

I found the SAP note 1315079 regarding a comparable issue, but it seems this one doesnt match 7.31, since I cant find an output.xml file inside of the WPC KM area using portal drive.

As far I got the idea in generally, while on 7.x it was a regular TREX index with a WPC crawler, on 7.31 the access regarding WPC content should be available through a custom web repository. However, Im running out of ideas what could go wrong. I would be glad if anybody would give me some input on this. Thanks,

regards

Export & Import UME to new Portal 7.01

I need to copy all of the Users/Groups/Roles from our physical portal to our virtualized portal. I've exported three files out of the old portal for Users, Groups and Roles.

The new portal is a fresh 7.01 installation, patched to SP16.  I've setup the LDAP configuration to validate credentials against Active Directory.

Now, when I import Users, I get failures because Groups do not exist.  Or when I import Roles, I get failures that Users do not exist.  What's the catch?  Is there a sequence for doing a mass replication of the UME?

I'm exporting out of 7.01 SP12 and importing to 7.01 SP16.  I wouldn't think that would matter.

I've read the Help Files:

  • Importing User Management Data
  • Import Format for UME Principals
  • User Data Format

Does anyone have a blog or best practice I could follow?

Dear all,

Force login screen while using SSO

For the Portal logon we’ve implemented SSO. However sometimes we need to login by specifying username and password, in case we want to simulated a user problem. To logon as ‘Administrator’ we are using the short hostname instead of the full qualified domain name. But we can’t use this mechanism for the users because SSO to the backend systems won’t work anymore.

Is there a way to force logon by username/password and the SSO connection to the backend systems are still working.

Kind Regards,

Integration of BW reports from HANA on SAP Enterprise Portal

Hi,

We are working on integrating BW reports from HANA on SAP Enterprise Portal.

We are using SAP netweaver 7.3.BW reports are migrated to HANA system.

Previously to integrate bw reports on Portal we are using application integrator iView.

Please provide us information if the existing application integrator iView used for integrating BW reports from BI systems would work as usual even if the BW system has been migrated to HANA.

Thanks and Regards,

JCo Client: connection lost

Hello everyone,

How can be SAP configured to retain JCo Client session if the connection is lost?

Please consider the following scenario:

  1. JCoDestination is created
  2. a function is called (e.g. STFC_CONNECTION)
  3. as the function is executed (in case of STFC_CONNECTION, a break point should be set to simulate that), the network connection to the server is lost.
  4. the server has completed the execution of the function, we are still offline, JCo Client is still within JCoFuntion.execute() and waiting.
  5. the network connection is restored. If it happens within approx. 15 seconds, the result of the function will be received from server correctly. After a longer period, no result will be received, and JCo will never return from JCoFunction.execute(). At this stage, I would like to receive some kind of exception or be able to receive the reply from SAP Server within up to 5 minutes after the connection loss.

Custom notification types for IW24 and IW26-Portal Backend

Hello Experts,

We've Business package for Maintenance technician activated in our test system and also activated the necessary services and completed all the pre-requisites as directed by SAP documentation, however when I try creating a maintenance request (IW26) or a malfunction report (IW24)system defaults to notification types M1 & M2.

Is there a way we can change the notification types as required for IW24 and IW26?

I tried to influence this thru customizing in POWL and personalization, couldn't succeed.

Any suggestions to get this resolved is highly appreciated.
